I have Age of Empires 1 installed and it runs fine on this Windows 10 laptop. exe file does not want to work either, no matter what I do: I tried everything as above. Running as admin, tried resuced colour mode and resolution - sometimes it gives a message asking am I sure I want to do this, other times I get the install button and when I click it, nothing happens. Tried running all the compatibility stuff - went throught the range of all the Windows versions, tried I tried the setup file though, and no joy. So I downloaded the AOE 1 trial version (a zip file called MSAoE), extracted it and it all went okay up to here. Sadly, this campaign was nit in the full version of the game and I really want to play those again. Rediscovering AOE 1&2 was amazing! I seem to remember that way back when, the trial version of AOE had a cool Egyptian scenario in plus a really nice campaign

So with the lockdown going on, I decided to play some old games and trying to capture some nostalgia. Age of Empires is an epic real-time strategy game spanning 10,000 years, in which players are the guiding spirit in the evolution of small stone age tribes.
